Paint the Town Green!
For the last 9 months, the Social Media Club of Kansas City has advocated for broadband connectivity through their Give Us a Gig initiative. With Google Fiber’s recent product announcement, your help is needed immediately.
Google, Inc. has set varying pre-registration thresholds to pre-qualify metro neighborhoods to be eligible for its fiber deployments. These range from about 40 to 200 households who must pay a $10 deposit by September 9 in order to qualify. To pay this fee, a debit or credit card is needed, which can be a real challenge for low income households
To ensure all that Kansas City, KS and Kansas City, MO neighborhoods become eligible, SMCKC has launched a fund raising campaign to assist low income families to pay this fee for their households. What’s at stake is free fiber installations in schools and public buildings in those areas. We don’t want the neediest parts of our cities to be left out of this great opportunity!
