Connecting for Good now operates several IRS-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) tax preparation sites in the Kansas City area. VITA offers FREE tax help to hard-working taxpayers with incomes of $60,000 and below who cannot prepare their own tax returns.
For questions on locations and hours or to make an appointment for assisted tax preparation, please call 2-1-1. Certified volunteers, sponsored by various organizations, receive training to help prepare and electronically file basic tax returns in communities across the country. VITA sites are located at community and neighborhood centers, libraries, schools, shopping malls and other convenient locations.
Want to prepare your federal and state returns for free? If your total income (including your spouse’s income, if applicable) is less than $66,000, you qualify.

Connecting For Good is able to accomplish its work through the extensive involvement of volunteers. Volunteers of all skills and ability are welcomed especially during tax season.
All training must be completed online or through scheduled webinars. Certifications must be completed prior to volunteering. If this is not feasible we ask that you keep this opportunity in mind for next year’s tax season.
